Brief study history of genera Elytrophallus and Elytrophalloides is reviewed. The only reliable key now to distinguish these two close-related genera is whether the body-surface is with plications. The comparison based on other characters, Such as on the shape of vitelline lobes, is still somewhat confusing. Elytrophallus coiliae Wang, 1982 and Elytrophallus rhabdosargi Wang, 1987 should not be put in genus Elytrophallus, for their body-surface were both described with plications. We are still not certain about their status because their terminal genitalia were not adequately described. Elytrophallus dermochelysi. sp. nov. from the stomach of the leatherback turtle is described. The new species is very similar to E. carettae Blair, 1984. They can both be distinguished from other members of the genus by their chelonian hosts, larger body size, vitellaria shape and not-posteriorly-extending Uterus. The new species differs from E. carettae in the following Characters: its body size is much larger than that of E. carettae; sucker ratio is smaller; the base of sinus sac is more anterior in relation to the seminal vesicle.
