Introduction: "This paper is based on the biological collections made during the occupation of Fletcher's Ice Island T-3 in the Central Arctic Basin by the United States Air Force, during the years 1952-55. Although the collection is small in the number of species represented, it is nevertheless of great interest. The present records represent the most northerly so far known for polychaetes, being the first collections made north of 80° latitude. Represented in the collections are four species of pelagic polychaetes; two of them, Pelagobia longicirrata and Phalacrophorus pictus, by an abundance of material. These are the first pelagic polychaetes recorded from the Arctic Ocean. Notably absent from the comprehensive plankton collections taken over a period of years and at different seasons are species found in the sub-arctic seas of the North Atlantic, such as species of the genus Tomopteris. A new species of the interesting bathypelagic Polynoid genus Macellicephala is described and the genus reviewed. The Serpulid species, Hyalopomatus claparedii, previously recorded in 1878 from the North Barents Sea, south of Fridtjof Nansen Land, has been redescribed from an abundance of material."
