Taxonomy not Colurella salina Althaus after Buhmann (1981)[identity unclear]_x000d_
a highly doubtful freshwater record of C. salina Althaus from an oligotrophic lake in the Austrian Alps requires verification. It resembles C. adriatica Ehrenberg, but lacks a ventral sulcus._x000d_
According to Segers (1998), the Black Sea specimen shown in Althaus' (1957) (op. cit.) microphotograph, identified by the author as C. colurus (Ehrenberg), may actually refer to Colurella salina Althaus. Accompanying drawings that were apparently prepared from the same species (specimen?) (Abb.2 a,b) however show that species with a ventral sulcus (also mentioned in the text as "Bauchspalt"), the absence of which is diagnostic for C. salina._x000d_
Type species of genus Monura Ehrenberg, 1830 (invalid synonym of genus Colurella Bory de St. Vincent, 1823). [details]
