Remark Drouet (1968: 266, 295), after examining the holotype of this species (in FI), assigned it to Microcoleus
lyngbyaceus (Kützing) P. Crouan & H. Crouan. Whitton & Potts (1979b: 6) suggested that their material might be better identified as Lyngbya semiplena (C. Agardh) J. Agardh, which Drouet (1968: 264--265, 295) also assigned to Microcoleus lyngbyaceus. [details]
