Taxonomy Originally described by Tzschaschel (1974) in a master thesis, which can not be regarded as published for the purpose of zoological nomenclature (ICZN Art.8.). The name was first made available nomenclaturally in Koste's (1978)monograph, who thereby advanced the publication of Tzschaschel (1979), but gave full credit to Tzschaschel as the sole responsible author of the name and the description. Correct date of publication is thus 1978 (ICZN Art.50.1.1.)._x000d_
As De Smet (2015)points out, "the supposed differences between Lepadella pontica and L. psammophila result from inaccuracies in the original description, and the latter is here considered as subjective junior synonym."_x000d_
The two species were also reluctantly regarded as synonyms by Koste (1978), who incorrectly gave priority to the younger name." [details]
