Classification Created as a subfamily Travisiinae of Opheliidae by Hartmann-Schröder, 1971, but subsequently shown to be a sister group to Scalibregmatidae from molecular studies, and recently raised in rank to a separate family by Blake & Maciolek (2016 online). See Travisia notes for further history. Probably monogeneric for genus Travisia as Neolipobranchius is incertae sedis to family and can only be in Scalibregmatidae as originally placed (dubiously identified material had placed it with Travisia genetically). [details]
