Diagnosis Test globular, 8 µm to 20 µm in diameter; simple circular aperture at each pole; wall thin, hyaline, homogeneous; cytoplasm colorless, granular and transparent; single nucleus; always with several contractile vacuoles and oil globules, pseudopodia elongate, radiating, straight or bifurcating, protruding from apertures at both ends of test; reproduction by binary fission or division into four zoospores.
