Introduced species vector dispersal in Ukraine (Nation) : Shipping [details]Unreviewed
Description Medium-sized (up to 150 mm long) bristle worm whose body narrows towards both ends. The eversible proboscis has papillae and four jaws. The antennae are very small. Segments are subdivided into rings. Small parapodia without gills. Colour: greyish white. [details]
Distribution In both periods G. capitata was mainly distributed in the open sea zone. The species was nevertheless also observed in the coastal zone (1994-2001: especially the western coastal zone). Its density always remained rather low with a maximum of 170 ind./m2 (1994-2001 period). [details]
Distribution Arctic to Rhode Island [details]
Habitat Known from seamounts and knolls [details]
Habitat Glycera capitata is observed in sediments of nearly all median grain sizes, but displays a preference for coarser sediments: a relative occurrence of approximately 40% is reached in sediments with a median grain size > 400 μm. The habitat preference of the species is furthermore characterised by its absence in sediments with a mud content > 20%. [details]
Habitat bathyal, infralittoral and circalittoral of the Gulf and estuary [details]
Taxonomy Family: Glyceridae, according to Trott (2004). [details]
