Type species The type species is given by the Hartman catalogue as Laeospira borealis (Daudin, 1800). This is an invalid name for Spirorbis spirorbis (Linnaeus). Caullery & Mesnil (1897) included 10 species in the subgenus, described Spirorbis borealis first, but including new species bernardi, koehleri, langerhansi, mediterraneus in the subgenus, and existing species beneti, cornuarietis, granulatus, militaris, and apparently Spirorbis morchi of Levinsen, as "mörchi" (may be seen as moerchi elsewhere} [details]
