Etymology The word 'longiseta' is of obvious derivation and there are about 185 'longiseta' species-group names in WoRMS as against only 27 'longisetus'. The uncertainty lies in whether it is a noun, thus an unchanging noun in apposition, or a misspelled adjective that should be changed to 'longisetus' for gender agreement. with masculine Hyboscolex. Here we have left 'longiseta' unchanged, and have assumed Schmarda intended the word as a noun when he combined it with Hyboscolex, given that he did not give 'seta' an overt adjectival suffix..
